Quiet breaks in tracking

A missing event looks like churn. Before you redesign onboarding, check whether the fire still happens.

Release notes rarely mention analytics. A redesigned screen can drop an activation event while product metrics look like a retention crisis.

Our first pass on any alarming curve is a tracking integrity check: volume against releases, null rates on key properties, and dual counts from a second source when available.

If the break is real, fix the event before you redesign the product. If the data is sound, then open the experiment backlog.

Build a small anomaly checklist into your weekly ritual so quiet breaks surface within days, not quarters.
