Activation is a sentence, not a chart

If your team cannot say what "activated" means in one sentence, the funnel will argue forever.

Activation should describe the first moment a user receives the value your application promises. That sentence drives event design more than any dashboard template.

Teams in Icheon and Seoul often discover that "signed_up" is not activation — it is only the door. The valuable moment might be the first project created, the first sync completed, or the first invite accepted.

Once the sentence is shared, instrumentation becomes simpler: one primary event, a few supporting properties, and a funnel that ends at value rather than registration.

Write the sentence on the metric sheet. Revisit it when the product positioning changes.
